The patent prosecution highway agreements between the Canadian patent office and the patent offices in many countries other countries (including the USPTO) has the potential to dramatically reduce the cost, time and hassle of securing many Canadian patents.

Of course, not every patent application will qualify for the patent prosecution highway program, and, it will not be suitable for all that do (for instance, if it might be possible or more affordable to secure wider claims in Canada than have been allowed elsewhere). But for many applicants, the PPH opens the possibility of securing patent rights in Canada very cost-effectively.
